The MetaCyclo is an exercise bike with a sleek and futuristic line that contrasts with the raw materials it is made of and the handmade iron roots that metaphorically fuse its base with the ground.

MetaCyclo is a special version of the Ciclotte exercise bike, designed by Luca Schieppati starting from an unrealized project of his that’s now part of the collection of the Triennale Design Museum, Milan, IT. Ciclotte was (and remains) a design object that embodied the idea of metaverse years before this word became of common use. In fact, Ciclotte’s proprietary app allows its owners in different parts of the world to challenge each other in real-time thanks to Kinomap App.

Today, the Metacyclo contrasts with the smooth surfaces of carbon fiber or aluminum typical of the design from which it derives, recalling as a reminder of the touch, roughness, and connection with the ground still missing in the digital world.

MetaCyclo was presented this year in January at Maison&Objet 2024, the leading design fair worldwide.

It took part of the curated “Tech Eden” section, displaying the future perspective of wellness, technology, and design, by the artistic direction of the trend forecasting agency Peclers Paris.

Luca Schieppati

Luca Schiepapti graduated in Industrial Design from the Politecnico di Milano in 2005 and is lecturer in StartUp and Product design at the European Institute of Design since 2007

In 2007, his Ciclò project – a futuristic one-wheel bike- enters the collection of the Triennale Design Museum (Milano, IT). In 2009, he created from it Ciclotte, a minimalistic, awards-winner excercise bike. Its futuristic shape made it the perfect fit in the scenography of the Ridey-Scott colossal “Prometheus” (2012) and was included in several exhibitions worldwide – Florence, Madrid, Beijing, Shanghai, and New York

Since then Luca works on broading Ciclotte products and collaborations, such as Ciclotte-Pirelli, Ciclotte-Teckell (the first-ever crystal excercise bike), and, now, with RHNH
